After visits from both Insurance Commission Candidates at Wednesdays annual meeting, a unanimous vote was cast to endorse State Representative Jasper Schneider for Insurance Commissioner. 

Due to his 100% voting record for labor issues in the last legislative session, his history of helping firefighters and other injured workers struggling with Workforce Safety and Insurance, the decision was made to endorse Representative Schneider. 

The first item on the agenda for the Professional Firefighters of North Dakota’s annual meeting was a unanimous vote to endorse Congressman Earl Pomeroy for reelection to the U.S. House of Representatives.  “Congressman Pomeroy has supported all of our issues and is a true advocate for firefighters,” said PFFND President Ed Grossbauer. 

The endorsement was made after Congressman Pomeroy’s voting record was discussed.  His voting record includes support for SAFER and AFG grants.  His co-sponsorship of the Public Safety Employer-Employee Cooperation Act was what made his endorsment a slam dunk.   

May 16, 2008 – After an historic 69-29 cloture vote to bring the Public Safety Employer-Employee Cooperation Act (H.R. 980/S.2123) on the floor of the U.S. Senate for debate, presidential politics, partisanship and the Senate's arcane procedural rules combined to temporarily stall progress on the bill that would give every fire fighter the right to collectively bargain.  Click for full iaff.org story
